Republicans oppose any change to the current health care insurance system because the insurers are paying them to do so. At the same time, Republcans can pander to conservatives by appearing to oppose reform out of ideological integrity.Peter L. Compromising with liberalism in any degree is like eating a cockroach.

It does kind of imply that working with conservatives is a waste of time. I wish Obama hadn't tried to get bi-partisanship on this particular issue, since it's clear that there is no way to work with Republicans/Conservatives on this issue without abandoning any hope of real improvement on the issue.Bryanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10356055226606119829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3894937.post-212852393991480962009-09-03T16:42:47.513-04:002009-09-03T16:42:47.513-04:00Yeah, principle is funny like that. Apparently th...Yeah, principle is funny like that. Apparently the Liberals don't want to give an inch on their precious Public "OPTION" (ahem...). Let me see if I can address this as visually as possible. A simple analogy might be that of a beautiful stew. All the ingredients that one might hope for, served up where 85% of the party is QUITE pleased with the meal. But, someone, supposing to speak for the 15% who simply don't find stew on their list of favorites, decides that the missing ingredient is a cockroach. Now, they're not suggesting that the ENTIRE STEW is cockroach stew. Only that cockroach is IN the stew. That way, when you dip into the stew, if you happen to get cockroach and that's not your choice, you can put that back for someone else and choose to have what you are accustomed to.

The liberal wants there to be something in the stew for everyone. The conservative understands that some things you can put in the stew, though only a limited percentage of the whole, will RUIN THE WHOLE.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
